    If we need to label the era we are in, the most appropriate would be progressivism and materialism. Both measure societal progress based on the efficiency of material production, pursuing material enjoyment, and considering wealth as the standard for happiness and success. This has aways been a prominent feature of human civilization. Project Happiness Index is a simulation of an East Asian understanding of happiness, becoming ‘happy’ through the day to day mechanisation of intense work.
